An amazing beauty queen from Davenport in Lowa, United States of America, is raising disability awareness using her title. Nicole Kelly, 23 years old, emerged the winner at the Miss Iowa 2014 completion that had hundreds of competitors. She is looking forward to inspiring children with disability not to give up hope on their dreams.
Nicole was born without her left arm, but has never allowed her condition to drag her back. She is currently a Theater Management university graduate. Before the completion last year June, she was in New York City where she worked on a Broadway play. During that time, her confidence improved, which got her ready for the beauty competition.
Kelly is now using her position to support an initiative that offers art chances for disabled people. The beauty queen also visits schools to talk about disability. On top of that, she likes meeting with parents of children with special needs.
Nicole has started a campaign known as “the power of one” with the aim of encouraging people to accept who they are.
