9-year-old Sanele from South Africa has become the youngest groom in the world, after marrying 62-year-old Helen Shabangu. The young boy says that his deceased grandpa told him to marry in a vision. The traditional marriage ceremony took place at Mkhuhlu township, at Shabangu’s residence. Watch video after cut.
Abel Shabangu has been married to Helen Shabangu for 30 years and have 5 children. Mr. Abel was one of the men who assisted in setting up three gazebos and a tent. He also bought a three-tier cake for the ceremony. He said that he wanted the day to go well; that’s why he decided to support his wife. Shabangu’s children also supported the union between Sanene and Shabangu, even though they did not attend the ceremony. The first time the couple made headlines was last year when they got married on Valentines Day. Sanele was 8 years old then. According to traditions of local wedding, they needed to repeat the ceremony for it to be valid, that’s why they repeated the vows again this year. Sanele, is a fourth-grade pupil and claims to have been seeing visions of his late grandpa, Busy Masilela, who died single. The interpretation of the boy's vision was that the grandpa wanted Sanele, his grandson, to marry on his behalf.
