Doctor Who Contracted Deadly Ebola Virus Is In Critical Condition

Dr. Kent Brantly, 33, from Texas, is in critical condition and terrified for his life since he contracted the deadly Ebola virus he was treating. The Doctor is one of the two Americans around the place who have contracted Ebola, which has claimed nearly 700 lives in West Africa.

The American Doctor had been treating victims of Ebola in Liberia and Monrovia, when he started to observe signs related to the Ebola virus. The father of two sent a mail to his coworker at John Peter Smith, saying that he was praying fervently that God would heal him. He also asked that people would send their well wishes and prayers to Nancy Writebol, his colleague at the hospital. 

 

Despite being scared of his friends, family, and, above all, his life, Dr. Brantly has no regrets whatsoever to have chosen to treat the dangerous outbreak. His mother, Jan Brantly, said that his prayer was to be a lifetime medical missionary. She added that his heart was in Africa.

However, when the Ebola virus started through Guinea and into Liberia, Brantly and Amber, his wife started to ask themselves whether they should stay with their kids, ages 5 and 3. The family decided to stay instead of flying away. The American Ebola victim always put on a full-body protective suit for several hours in the hot sun as he was treating the patients that have been infected. He was also the director of the Ebola clinic in Monrovia.

When he knew he had contracted the deadly virus, the doctor quarantined himself right away. He also followed stern procedures on what to do when treating the affected people. 

A couple of days before he became ill, his wife and the two kids left for the U.S to attend a wedding. The Doctor didn’t show any signs of the virus.Dr. Tom, the University of Texas Medical Branch professor of microbiology and immunology, says that they are concerned about the number workers that have been infected.

Efforts to evacuate Dr Brantly from Liberia have not been successful since countries believe that he poses a threat to their health. Reports from the health ministry of Liberia say that investigations are underway to determine how Brantly contracted Ebola as he was very careful with all the precautions.
