One of the best sprinters in the USA, Torrin Lawrence has died. He died early hours of this morning after his car was struck by a tractor trailer, officials say.
Lawrence was driving in Georgia around 1:40 AM this morning, when his car came to a stop after he lost one of his tires. He got out of the car to call 911, but a big rig struck the vehicle, which knocked the car into him. Lawrence died in the wreck. He was 25.
The Atlanta Georgia Constitution reports Georgia track coach Wayne Norton said in a news release distributed by UGA - “I am shocked and pained with news of Torrin’s death. First, my prayers for comfort are for Torrin’s mother and family. Second, this makes me reflect on Torrin and remember him as one of the greatest talents I have ever seen in our sport and as gentle man.”
