There is still no news after the mysterious disappearance of Nathan O'Brien and his grandfather Alvin Liknes, 66, and grandmother Kathy Liknes, 53, from their home in Calgary, Canada. An amber alert set up for them has not yielded any result.
Nathan's mother Jennifer O'Brien had been over throughout the weekend helping out with an estate sale the Liknes's were holding ahead of a planned move to Edmonton. She left the residence with her youngest child around 10 p.m., leaving Nathan to have a sleepover with his grandparents.
On Monday morning, Jennifer went to pick up her son and discovered an empty house. She contacted the authorities.
“Evidence found at the residence suggests the disappearance of all three family members may be suspicious," said Calgary Police Service spokesman Kevin Brookwell.
"When we went to the address and after speaking with family the home wasn't in the condition it would typically be left in, and there's some indication the occupants did not leave under their own volition," said Brookwell.
Police in Calgary, Canada are continuing to investigate the suspicious disappearance of the three people and are seeking the public's help for any information.
Five-year-old Nathan O'Brien has blond curly hair and brown eyes and was wearing peach-colored shorts and a striped blue hoodie.
Alvin Liknes, 66, has grey-blond hair and was last seen wearing black sports shorts. He walks with a slight limp. Kathryn Liknes, 53, has red-brown hair and green eyes and was last seen wearing pyjamas. Both are considered missing.
Investigators are asking anyone who attended an estate sale at the residence in the 100 block of 38A Avenue S.W., over the weekend, June 28 -- 29, 2014, to come to the Parkhill Community Centre tomorrow, Thursday, July 3, 2014. Investigators will be on hand between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., to speak to anyone who attended the sale.
Investigators are asking anyone who purchased an item at the sale to please bring a photo of that item to the community hall meeting. This will aid the investigation to determine what items were purchased during the sale, compared to what items remain in the home.
The Parkhill Stanley Park Community Hall is located at 4013 Stanley Road S.W.
