Wonders shall never end!
Controversial Founder and Senior Pastor of Christ Revival Victory Chapel International, Lagos, Nigeria Prophet Iretiola Ajanaku died on August 22, 2013 after a brief illness. He convinced his over 2000 followers that he had the ability to heal sick people, make the deaf hear, raise the dead and perform all sorts of miracles. Many miracle seekers became members due to what they heard and saw as the "spiritual power" of the prophet.
Late Ajanaku’s widow, Joy Ajanaku and some elders and members of the church chose not to bury him because they were convinced he will rise again. 10 months later and no sign of Ajanuku coming back, his family and church members decided their Shepherd is not coming back to life and a decision was reached to bury him on July 17, 2014.
Today, there are not up to 150 members remaining in the church. Speculation has it that many fled because there is no one to replace and perform the signs and wonders Ajanaku displayed for them every Sunday.
Below is a statement the church recently released:
“Our father, a true icon of God and founder of Christ Revival Victory Chapel International, Prophet Ajanaku, who passed on Saturday, August 17, 2013, shall be laid to rest on Thursday, July 17, 2014. This burial ceremony is intended to finally put to rest all post death controversies surrounding the life and ministry of this great man of God. It is also an opportunity for us to show our gratitude to thousands of well meaning Nigerians, churches and honourable people that have since stood by the church and family left behind. As part of the burial arrangements, there will be a lying-in-state at the headquarters of the ministry at 17,Koya Akinwale Street, Off Aina Obembe Street, Baruwa Bus Stop, Ayobo Ipaja, Lagos, between 9 and 11am while interment follows thereafter at his home. Prophet Ajanaku lives on!”
His convincing style of preaching was another irresistible hook. This created a massive following for him. He always preached that whenever he died, he was going to come back to life a few days after his death. That was not the case when death came knocking in his mid-forties.
